In collaboration with Ginza Tsutaya Books, Ferris Wheel Press is proud to present The Magical Metropolis - the newest installation in the Curious Collaborations Series. In this special edition ink series, the friendly animal cast of Ferris Wheel Press find themselves on a journey across the globe to Tsutaya Books, in Ginza, Japan. The ink colors, packaging, and design tell a story akin to how a movie leaves a lasting impression on its audience. Magical Metropolis

Our journey begins inside the Magical Metropolis, appreciating the modern architectural elements of the Ginza Six building, which also houses 13 of the most renowned luxury fashion brands in the world. 

The hand-illustrated package features stationery silhouettes incorporated into the architecture of the building and the iconic statuesque Phoenix overlooking the glowing streets of Ginza, Magical Metropolis is an ode to the magic that exists in even the smallest of details. 

Notable design details:

• Inspired by the GINZA SIX building in Japan
• Phoenix silhouette, statuesque icon that rests on the gas lamps found on the city streets in Ginza
• Stationery silhouettes incorporated into the architecture of the building, i.e., fountain pen nib, rulers as beams, paper clips as door handles, bulldog clips as chandeliers, letterpress blocks in windows, books spines as glass window panes,

Tokyo Bay Blue

The eye catching designs housed inside Ginza Tsutaya Books are nothing if not distinctive. Tokyo Bay Blue highlights the finest features that can be found inside this iconic shop. Perched upon their glass display case you'll find our office companion Pumpkin getting familiar with the maneki-neko, a traditional Japanese feline figurine which is said to bring good luck to the owner, a vast array of writing instruments, and famous classic Japanese literary titles. Tokyo Bay Blue allows you to experience the wonder of Ginza Tsutaya Books, all from the comfort of your home.

Bookkeeper's Brass

Ginza Tsutaya Books’ stationery floor is truly a sight to behold. Inspired by their show stopping brass display tables that house their vast array of stationery and lifestyle items, Bookkeeper’s Brass is a fittingly fancy tribute to this carefully curated shop. 

Atop these tables you can toe the line where modern meets tradition with items like the e-do no wagashi, which is a collaboration between Ginza Tsutaya Books and a traditional Japanese snack maker, and features sweet treats like nib shaped cookies. Known for their chic, modern industrial interior design, they provide a comfortable environment to soak in an extensive collection of literature, art, as well as cultural and lifestyle goods. • “e-do no wagashi” which is a collaboration between Ginza Tsutaya Books and a wagashi( Japanese traditional snack) maker, which have over 100 years of history. Inside the product there are cookies designed like a fountain pen’s nib and books
