    Care Instructions
    1. DO NOT post the cap onto your pen when writing. Our pen has been designed and balanced to write with the cap un-posted
    2. The threads of the cap are brass and risk damaging the lacquer if you post the cap
    3. Store pen vertically with the tip pointing upwards when not in use to minimize clogs; routine flushing and maintenance recommended, especially with sparkling inks

    Filling your Joule Fountain Pen

    1. Unwind the grip from the barrel of the pen to reveal the converter
    2. Pull the converter off of the grip assembly
    3. Clean your nib and converter by rinsing it in cold water until water runs clear
    4. If the pen has not been in use for a few weeks, you may need to submerge the nib for an hour to loosen up the ink
    5. Air dry the nib and converter and reassemble when fully dry
    6. Twist the end knob until the piston is fully depressed
    7. Submerge the entire nib into the ink, and SLOWLY twist the piston to draw the ink until the converter is fully extended
    8. It is normal to have some small air pockets at the top of the converter

    Stunning color, easy writer.

First up, the teal color is just plain stunning and fascinating. It is deeper and more gem-like than can be displayed on camera, with light and shadow playing a part on the texture.

The pen has a hefty, solid feel to it.

As to the writing experience, it is a fine, big, if very stiff nib. The Fine aspect would be a medium fine in a Pilot, if that helps. It does write well, with an easy flow. If you need a slight bit of flex, this is not the pen nib for you. But it starts every time I uncap it, even after being away from home for 3 weeks.

It feels solid in the hand, but clearly should not be posted. Aside from the almost guaranteed scratching from attempting to post it, the weight would be off with the cap on.

One aspect I find keeps calling me back is the smoothness of the threats on the cap. It’s about one and a half full rotations to seat the cap, but a quick, slight flick of the wrist, and the cap will spin until it seats itself. So smooth.

Unlike the Bijou, when capped, it can still roll away from you if you aren’t aware or your table is slightly off. It will definitely roll if just the body is set down without the cap. I can see where some people with more tender skin on their middle finger might find the engraving work a little irritating or painful during long writing sessions, but I have a writer’s callous there, so I don’t even notice.

It is a luxury pen. There are better known names out there. But both the style and the build make for this as a quality pen for everyday use.

    Gets clogged

Using FWP ink with shimmer and this pen gets clogged a lot.
