Beautiful deep green

This green is so dark it almost looks black. The sparkle is amazing but a little hard to get when dipping. It's still a stunning color though.

A shimmering delight

I already have a few shimmer inks from FWP, but Knitted Nettle is fast becoming my favorite. I missed buying a bottle on the first go around, and I am so glad it was brought back! In addition to the color, as a knitter, I felt obligated to have some in my "stash." As always, the packaging is lovely. I appreciate the iridescent look (on theme with the ink), and I especially love the image of knitting in process with fountain pen tipped needles. The side of the box mentions the Base is dark green, the Sheen is red, the Shimmer is Pink/gold, and Shading is N/A. The base color is strong, with a slight blue/teal tinge, much like the box color. It's a strong color that works well on several colors of paper. When a written sample is tipped in dimmer light, that red sheen is evident. It can be subtle. Under bright light, the sparkle is lovely and that pink/gold combo comes across as almost purple. This is confirmed when looking at a bottle that's been at rest and tipping it up to light to see the shimmer collected on the bottom. In the bottle, the ink is quite dark, but when writing it's much brighter.
I know that using shimmer or glitter inks in fountain pens can be controversial. Hardcore pen enthusiasts cite jams, uneven flow, and cleaning issues for reservoirs as some of the most common issues relating to these inks. I figure if I'm not loading my top tier, most precious pen with them, then it's worth a try. I loaded my FWP Carousel with Knitted Nettle and it wrote perfectly. It is a slightly "wet" nib, and that can be useful for a shimmer ink. One of the issues is settling, such that shimmer is not apparent throughout the entirety of the writing. I used it to write a lengthy greeting card and had no such issue. I will add the one of my preferred pens for shimmer inks is the Hongdian Black Forest because the proprietary reservoirs include a spring. This means that with small agitation, the sparkles are being moved around to prevent settling. I will need more testing to determine if settling is a problem. This ink, of course, can also be used with dip pens. Settling would then be a problem and I would need to cap and shake the bottle frequently. This could be solved with a magnetic stirrer.
Overall, it's a beautiful color and it writes nicely.
