Giving Back in Harmony: Ferris Wheel Press X Toronto Symphony Orchestra

When I founded Ferris Wheel Press, one of the guiding principles I wanted our team to live by was our sixth core value — Serve Generously. To me, that means using the blessings we’ve been given — creativity, craftsmanship, and community — to give back in meaningful ways.
This past season, I was proud to see that spirit come to life as Ferris Wheel Press joined the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) as a Gold Sponsor for their Lang Lang: Emperor Gala — an extraordinary evening that celebrated not only musical excellence, but the power of art to uplift and unite our community.
Our co-founder Deborah Lau-Yu served as Gala Chair, leading a stunning night of music, elegance, and generosity in support of the TSO’s education and community programs. Seeing our brand represented on stage — not for our products, but for our values — was one of those moments that remind me why we do what we do.

Continuing the Melody with the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra
Beyond the gala, our collaboration with the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra (TSYO) continues to inspire me. These young musicians represent the next generation of creativity and passion — qualities we hold dear at Ferris Wheel Press.
Supporting them means more than sponsorship; it’s an investment in imagination itself. Whether it’s a child discovering the joy of performance or a student composing their first piece, we want to help create the conditions where their creativity can thrive — just as we aim to do for writers and artists through our stationery and inks.
Why Community Matters to Me
As a company, we’ve been blessed with growth and recognition around the world. But I believe that true success is measured not by what we accumulate, but by what we contribute.
Our involvement with the TSO, the Youth Orchestra, and other initiatives through Fête Chinoise are all part of a larger vision — to see creativity nurtured at every level, from the concert stage to the artist’s desk.
When I see young people discovering their voice — whether through music or through writing — I’m reminded that generosity doesn’t just change others; it shapes us too.
Serving generously means showing up — for our city, for the arts, and for one another.
Looking Ahead
This partnership with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra is only the beginning. We plan to continue finding ways to weave creativity and community together — supporting the institutions and people who inspire us every day.
I’m grateful to everyone who joined us at the gala and to our friends at the TSO for giving us the opportunity to be part of something bigger than ourselves.
Here’s to many more harmonious collaborations ahead.
